Porto city was recently elected the Best European Destination for 2014. This prize was awarded by the European Consumers Choice, an independent and non-profit organization, which represents the largest platform for Tourism in Europe.
One again, the city of Port Wine and Douro River, won this award. Considered by TripAdvisor as the new emerging tourism destination, Oporto city is truly trendy!
Porto city once again! The second biggest city of Portugal has gone out of anonymity. Recently, was elected as the Best European Destination for 2014, by the European Consumers Choice, which represents the largest platform for Tourism in Europe.
This Portuguese city won the title ahead of 19 big European cities, like Paris, London, Barcelona or Budapest.
And this was one more distinction which has been collected by this city. Last year, the city of Port Wine, Port Wine Cellars and Douro River was considered the Best Holiday’s Destination by Lonely Planet, the world leader in publishing travel guides. Additionally, TripAdvisor considered it a New Emerging Tourism Destination.
But there is more. There is much more. Porto city has received many mentions on the national and international press, was listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site (in 1996) and, thenceforth, the awards are countless.
Porto city has long ceased to be just the city of Port Wine and Douro River. Porto is History, Porto is development, Porto is culture, Porto is forefront, Porto is playfulness, Porto is people… Porto is a city for all, and it can preserve its own genuineness. And that’s why this city has been one of the most acclaimed cities of the world!
